Endgame MV Pt 1: Intro and Future
The video starts with TS opening three different sets of curtains looking out onto three different cities. Hers, Ed’s, and Future’s names flash on the screen with each city: London (TS), Tokyo (Ed), Miami (Future). While it may seem like we are going to see three different people’s stories here, we are actually just seeing one: TS’ story. She is pulling back the curtain on her life. To “pull back the curtain” is an idiom meaning exposing a charade.
First up is Miami and Future. We have lots of flashes between 4 different scenes during this part of the video. A yacht, a Lamborghini, a beach, and a mansion (or what appears to be a mansion.)
On the yacht, TS dances on the deck with 4 female backup dancers. Inside the yacht, the dancers and three men are hanging out in a room having fun. At one point, one of the woman takes a selfie of the group. The men are crowded around for the selfie too, but when we see the image, only the four women are captured (I think this whole scene with the selfie means something, but I’m not coming up with much - feel free to chime in.) TS and Future do not join them and spend all their time sitting in the next room. They are not affectionate, they just hang out and sing. TS is drinking an old fashioned (we know it’s an old fashioned from the glass). We also see TS and Future standing out in the open on the deck together. They look friendly but not affectionate. A shooting star flashes across the clear sky.
In the scenes in the car, other than them singing, nothing really happens. However, the sky is stormy. Taylor gives Future a look when he says he has a bad boy persona, and fire shoots out of the rear bumper.
The scenes of them in the mansion also show them doing not much of anything. There is almost no furniture in the house like it’s just there for show. They wander around in it, but nothing of substance happens. They seem friendly but not affectionate. Almost business-like. TS sits alone on a wide upholstered bench. The scene flashes back and forth between her on the bench, her sitting on a simple chair in a room with no furniture, and she and Future walking down a hallway. When she is in the chair, she is wearing a sequined black hoodie, and takes the hood off her head. There is a gray cat sitting in the background. Then there’s a quick close up of TS sitting on the bench. She has an interesting look on her face and she’s slouching (more than usual). I wouldn’t say she looks sad, but maybe resigned. The pattern on the wall behind her makes it look like she is sitting in front of a large X. At the end of the video we return to this scene. We see Future sitting in the same spot. Also we see TS sitting in a large dressing room wearing a robe. She blows bubbles. Then when it flashes to Future, the bubbles are floating around him, so we know TS’ dressing room is also in the mansion.
The scenes on the beach have TS looking happy and free, walking in the surf barefoot and watching fireworks. It could be the Fourth of July.
These are the lyrics to Future’s rap:
You so dope, don’t overdose I’m so stoked, I need a toast We do the most, I’m in the Ghost like I’m whippin’ a boat I got a reputation, girl that don’t precede me* (yeah) I’m one call away whenever you need me (yeah) I’m in a G5 (yeah), come to the A-Side (yeah) I got a bad boy persona, that’s what they like (what they like) You love it, I love it, too ‘cause you my type (you my type) You hold me down, and I protect you with my life
*I actually think online lyric sites have this wrong. I hear him sing “I got a reputation, girl that done preceded me” which is a colloquialism that means the opposite of the above (his reputation does indeed precede him.) Since he wrote this, these lyrics are not in the magazines, so I don’t know where or if I can get confirmation on this. And it fits “We’ve got big reputations.” I’ve seen several different End Game analyses that struggle with this line, and it makes more sense as I hear it.
Here’s how I interpret these lyrics: Future is TH. We are seeing their fake relationship play out. In the rap, he is gushing over her (”we do the most... I’m so stoked” - they were insane with their PDAs and whirlwind romance, and the infamous I heart TS shirt), but also acknowledging that they went overboard (”don’t overdose... I need a toast” aka a drink.) “I’m in the Ghost” (he’s a beard,) “like I’m whippin’ the boat” (rocking the boat.) “One call away” means they are not usually together, but when she needs a stunt, call him. A G5 is a private jet (they flew all over the world together.) “Come to the A-side” I think represents B-side to A-side on a record (B-side being the gay side, A-side being straight.) So he makes her seem straight when she is with him. Bad boy persona (plays bad guy in Thor and she’s established a narrative that she likes bad boys.) “You my type” may mean they’re both gay. “You hold me down, I protect you with my life means” they protect each other via mutual bearding (I checked Urban Dictionary for “hold me down”.)
The imagery in the video and lyrics that reference Getaway Car: I know some people think Getaway Car is about another relationship (Swiftgron, Kaylor’s Big Sur road trip, etc...) but I interpret it as the more obvious but gay telling: she met him at the Met gala, then she used him to get away from CH and distract from the mess with Kimye, and he was excited about it and thought it would help his career, but it was a disaster. There are four things that can be references to Getaway Car in the End Game video: The old fashioned, the car, switching sides (meaning she switched back to the B- or Gay side when the relationship ended), and the X on the wall behind TS, and Future (X marks the spot where we fell apart.) I think they were and are friendly still, which is sort of represented in the video by how well they just kind of hang out together (unlike a certain other recent beard.) Her at the beach represents how happy and free she was when this relationship ended.
I’m less sure about this part, but I think it’s an interesting idea: Miami represents Rhode Island: the yacht party represents the 2016 4th of July party, the mansion represents her mansion, but also their empty charade of a relationship, and the beach is obviously the beach at the mansion with 4th of july fireworks, and that part shows how happy and relieved she was when it was over.
And here’s a fun reach: I think the cat in the background might reference CH. He has an all gray cat named Roy that looks a lot like this (I’ve heard the cat described as black, but I think it looks gray.) https://twitter.com/calvinhdaily/status/713930170302914560?lang=en If this is in fact true, first of all TS is the absolute Empress of Shade, and secondly, it can be another reference to Getaway Car. But I’m not willing to really go out on a limb on this one. It’s just a fun idea.
Lastly, TS is in a large dressing room with her beard, just hanging out, biding her time. This represents the closet. There is baggage on the floor, which represents either her personal baggage, or that she’s packed up to leave the closet (or both.) The room has lots of mirrors and vertical lines and gold filigree that makes it look a bit like a gold cage (as seen in LWYMMD MV and sung about in So It Goes.)
To be continued with London and Tokyo (if I can find the time)...
Shout out to yes-yaz who had the idea that TS opening the curtains at the beginning means she’s telling her story (not Future’s or Ed’s), and for inspiring “pulling back the curtain.” Also the cat being CH’s was something I saw somewhere on someone’s blog, but I couldn’t find it again. So shout out to them too!

Whitbread Installs Automated External Defibrillators in 800 Premier Inn Hotels
Whitbread has installed defibrillators in all of its 800 Premier Inn and hub by Premier Inn hotels in the UK. Premier Inn welcomes millions of guests each year and this significant investment has been hailed as having the potential to save countless lives – and indeed has already done so within just days of installation. On 1 January 2020, a guest at a pub next to Premier Inn Westminster hub on London’s Tothill Street was in cardiac arrest when the first responder spotted a sticker alerting him to the fact a defibrillator was available in the neighbouring Premier Inn hotel. The equipment was lent to the response team, who later confirmed it successfully saved the patient’s life.
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) or simply, a defibrillator, is a machine that delivers an electric shock through the heart of a person in cardiac arrest. This shock, which is called defibrillation, is designed to return a heart to its normal working rhythm. Premier Inn’s defibrillators are all fully automatic devices. Once opened, the machine will talk the user through what to do. It will analyse whether a shock should be delivered and, if so, tell the user when to do so. Alternatively, it may ask the user to carry out CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) also known as chest compressions. All the user has to do is follow the instructions and no training is required. If a guest or passer-by is having a Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA) these devices can make a life-saving difference before the emergency services arrive. Each Premier Inn defibrillator is registered with the emergency services, making them aware of the locations so that in the case of an emergency, the nearest hotel could not only save a guest’s life but also a member of the public. Anthony Marsh, Chairman of the Association of Ambulance Chief Executives, said, “I very much welcome the decision by Whitbread to place a defibrillator at each of their Premier Inn hotels – it’s a move which could save countless lives and I hope other major hotel chains follow suit. A cardiac arrest can happen to absolutely anyone; young or old, fit or not. When someone suffers a cardiac arrest, not to be confused with a heart attack, they are clinically dead; their heart has stopped beating and they will not recover unless someone is prepared to start CPR quickly and a defibrillator is attached to them to reset the heart. Currently, the survival rate from cardiac arrests in the UK is tragically low at around 7%, but by increasing the number of defibrillators available and growing the number of people prepared to carry out CPR, that figure can be improved markedly. The reality is that increasing the number of defibrillators could make the difference between life and death and ultimately give friends and families the chance to spend time with their loved ones that they would not otherwise have had.” The Powerheart G5 Defibrillators have been provided by Cardiac Science. Cardiac Science is a global organisation who manufacture and distribute this life-saving equipment to companies, healthcare professionals, emergency responders, and the general public. Shaun Ingram, Managing Director of Cardiac Science UK, said, “We are delighted and very proud to be working with Premier Inn on this sector-leading initiative. Not only does this significant investment demonstrate Premier Inn’s commitment to protecting their employees and guests, but by making them accessible 24/7, it allows broader communities to also benefit, for which they should be congratulated.” SCA kills up to 60,000 people in the UK every year and affects people of all ages. A sudden cardiac arrest refers to a problem with the heart’s electrical system causing it to suddenly stop beating normally. For every minute that passes without CPR and defibrillation, an SCA victims’ likelihood of survival decreases by up to 10%. Having a defibrillator on hand can be the difference between life and death. See latest Travel News, Interviews, Podcasts and other news regarding: Whitbread, Premier Inn, Making a Difference.
